Collaborative Demo at O-RAN Alliance - F2F - February 2026 - Rome
“Open-Source Demo: O-RAN UCTG Network Energy Saving Use Case”

Scope
Several teams are currently working on a demo in the networking-area/lobby at the O-RAN F2F in Rome first week of February 2026 in the context of O-RAN OSFG. The guiding use case was defined by O-RAN MVP-C and is called "Energy Saving" (link to spec see Option 1 - NonRtRic, rApp based, O1 based)

Description
Please see the target description of the use case in related O-RAN documents: O-RAN Network Energy Saving Use Cases Technical Report 2.0 (6.2.1 Option 1: Non-RT RIC Deployment - rApp-based, O1-based).
For the demonstration within the lobby/networking of 2026-02 O-RAN Alliance f2f meeting in Rome, several simplification are needed to meet the time lines and to reuse existing implementations. Such simplifications are documented in this page and are subject of future implementations and demonstrations.

Long term Target
The following diagram is inherit from the O-RAN network energy saving use case option 1 description (Non-Rt-Ric deployment, rApp-based, O1 based) and serves as the target to guide implementations and discussions.
Simplification for 2026-02 O-RAN F2F in Rome
logic: UE loss detection in O-DU-NrCellDU triggers rApp to disable energy saving on O-RU.

Presentation of Communication to Commercial O-RU in ODLUX

@Alex Stancu connected the Commercial O-RU to a SMO OAM deployment in COSMOS at 10.160.2.58.
Question: @Ivan Seskar; @Alex Stancu Do we need to use another server for SMO NonRt-RIC and LFN Duranta integration?
Trigger at ODLUX to perform a manual configuration. The trigger should come via an rApp at the Demo.
The configuration is reflected at o-ran-hardware:power-state.
Summary: : Setting the “energy-savings” to “trAVision ue”, then the operational state goes to “sleeping”; setting the “energy-savings” to “false”, operational state goes to “awake”
