Proposal: "Predict future PRB demand per slice in 5G RAN Network" (@Sunil N)

• @Sunil N Working on this now. Will revert via stack if there is any issue.

  • @Sunil N presented some slides proposing a new use case & rApp for "PRB demand prediction - per slice"

    • All: Looks great. Looking forward to getting stated.

    • rApp & deployment will be very similar to AIML rApp demos at 2024-10 O-RAN F2F Montreal

    • Will start with dummy data. for training 

    • Will work with @subhash for training etc & how to store trained model 

  • Action: @John Keeney (Ericsson EST) to propose a new repo to store rApps

How to add PM data to InfluxDB (Demond Wael)

• No update

• Last week:

  • Hello to @Aya Kamal Elbakly, Demond Wael, Mina Akram, Ziad Hossam (Orange Innovation Egypt) 👋

  • Difficult to inject data into RANPM pipeline to have it appear in InfluxDB

  • Suggest try latest version of SMO install (inclund RANPM functions from it/dep)

    • Need to build https-server & ranpm-raap locally - they are not "released" 

  • Need to ensure data ingested is in 3GPP PM file format & PM Producer filter is configured to match data.

    • Check logs 

  • Working on a CSV → 3GPP file format - overlaps with work in Energy Saving rApp usecase to convert Viavi-format CSV → 3GPP XML file format

  • From last week & again this week:

    • @John Keeney (Ericsson EST) Avoid trying to use internal interfaces/formats/topics in the RANPM flow

      • Use 3GPP XML files, hosted in some FTP/HTTP server (HTTP server provided), then send a VES event to VES collector (with the path/filename to the new file)

        • Toolchain does all necessary XML→JSON translation, filtering etc, then inject into InfluxDB)

      • latest snapshot version of RANPM functions support 3GPP file-ready event format & latest NR PM data files. Older (Release K) versions only support older VES-format file-ready events & older 4G PM data file.

RSAC Energy Saving integration use case  (rApps & AI/ML)

• No update this week - but working away on this.

• Plan to be used to varying degrees in several venues over the next months

  • OAI workshop (21-22 May)

  • OSFG workshop (23 May)

  • June O-RAN F2F - Fukuoka (2-6 June)

• From last week:

  • Discussion End-to-End Integration

    • Good progress made on O1-PM - convert to file format & reuse existing RANPM functions → rApp

      • Note: RANPM snapshot images have timed out. !

        • @John Keeney (Ericsson EST) & @Aravindhan Ayyanathan - Recreate the snapshots. Good for another 30 days

        • Make sure release happens before 30 days & update charts in it/dep

    • O1-CM: 

      • When integrated SMO deployment is ready rApp should be able to use NCMP as a wrapper for RestConf → SDNC/ODL

      • Exposed via SME to rApp

    • Topology:

      • @Martin Skorupski will create a topology/deployment model - which can then be processed by TEIV to bootstrap the TEIV topology.

        • Will help pre-populate the topology & add links etc - where adapters do not yet exist.

      • Also TEIV adapter nearly complete; to poll NCMP/SDNC to populate TEIV-OAM data of ODUs/OCU/ODUCell/OCUCell

        • Available for rApp to query which DU/Cells to target for Energy saving rather than hard coding

      • TEIV can then be queried by ESrApp to get IDs etc & containment info needed - rather than hardcoding in rApp logic

    • AIML

      • @John Keeney (Ericsson EST) & @subhash to discuss: 

        • How & when training happens, & where trained model is stored

        • How AIMLFW is deployed as part of SMO

        • How rApps ML model is deployed as an Inference service for rApp to use (KServe) 

    • rApps & xApp

      • @bimo fransiscus asisi to advise on where the current Apps are - to help identify how to extend for deployment. 

    • VES collector in SMO

      • Can change configuration in integrated SMO (via configmaps - TBC), but need to download & make 3GPP schema files available somehow.

        • May need to add a custom step to pull these files during SMO setup. (Similar for other functions where spec downloads might be required before use)

    • Will discuss more with @fransiscus bimo during RSAC

OAM (@Martin Skorupski)

• No major update this week:

• Still  working on deployment - currently still docker-compose

• Will update info on labs - e.g. now obsolete UNH-IOL & OpenWirelessLab.

NONRTRIC (@John Keeney (Ericsson EST))

• Working hard on Integrated SMO deployment

  • First version nearly ready for testing.

    • Working hard on Nephio/ONAP/OSC co-location. 

    • Needs alot of resources - happy to see winlab machines coming on line.

    • Still have a networking issue between nephio control cluster (native k8s) & nephio workload clusters (kind k8s) to deploy OAI nodes

    • Next steps will include AI/ML platform integration

      • To support ML inference service LCM via AIMLFW (as well as rApp manager)

      • To help demonstrate training & model management etc too

• Working on ES-rApp & use case - mainly as a requirements driver for platform. Lots to do!

  • Need a sample ML model for a bootstrap/test inference service
