It described the several upstream projects include OpenStack, Kubernetes, etc.

Need work with TOC to get INF upstream projects into it.

---DRAFT---

To serve as the "infrastructure" for O-RAN, the infrastructure has been defined as the Cloud Platform in O-RAN alliance work group 6 (Cloudification and Orchestration). Generally the Cloud Platform should support the VM based solution and Container solution, which in the INF project the OpenStack and Kubernetes will be leveraged.

And for DU and CU, the real time related features are very important, in INF we will use the Yocto to create the Linux host environment, it is not only because Yocto can provide real time features such as CPU isolation and pre-empty schedule, but also Yocto has significant players from silicon vendors. Futhermore, Yocto is very easy to do costomization and multiple architecture supporting.

To fulfill the CU and DU deploy scenarios, the regional cloud, edge cloud and cell site are considered as the hierachy architecture of the Cloud Platform. In the INF, we are tring to leverage the StarlingX project in OpenStack fundation. The Distributed Cloud from StarlingX can map the "system controller" and "subcloud" to the regional cloud and edge cloud.

In the INF, the AAL (accelerator abstract layer) will be addressed in the future release, the discussion in O-RAN alliance and some basic conslusion has been made, such as "define the common accelerator management API" and "use the DPDK BBDEV as the framework". So in the INF, the DPDK will be use also.
